RAMIFICATIONS OF PANDAMIC

Starting early 2020 and still continuing as of August 2021, the C-19 Pandemic has caused immense misery across the globe. The various facets of life have been affected significantly and the life of a school or college going child was no exception. With schools and colleges shutdown, there was very little option for the educational institutions but to conduct the academic program online. Confined to their houses, the beneficiaries of Ascend continued their academic journey by attending these online classes and actively participating in them. The mentors at Ascend did their best in keeping in touch with the beneficiaries during these challenging times and ably supported them with their counseling apart from monitoring their academic progress. It is the fond hope of Ascend that this pandemic draws to an end as early as possible.

Software Training - Summer Camp @ Triad Software

A summer camp was conducted for school students in the age group of 12-17 years from May 6 to May 17 2019. This opportunity was extended to children supported by Ascend Educational Foundation as well.

Program objective:

To ensure that the lesser privileged children also get the exposure as those in the higher strata of society so that they can also be equally competitive when they face the corporate world in future.

Program details:

The training camp covered the HTML basics and JavaScript. The programmers from Triad’s Software Development division trained the students on language concepts including syntax, operators, statements, loops, functions and events. The participants were given practical exercises based on real-time examples and projects.

Towards the end of the two weeks’ course, students were given a participation certificate.

Robotics Training - Summer Camp @ Triad Software

A summer camp for school going students from standard VII to XI was held from April 30th to May 11th 2018. This opportunity was extended to children supported by Ascend Educational Foundation as well.

Objective of this program:

To create an environment where school going kids will come and explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Participants to generate ideas, create designs and then work on them to create models. They shall use CAD as a tool for modelling ideas for creating designs. It shall help trigger their innovative instincts, generate interest towards science and technology and also get the experience of working in the real world.

The duration of the program was 40 hours and there were 6 children who participated in the program. The program was well received and the participants at the end were happy to have produced a working model of different contraptions. The exercise involved both team work and individual contribution. It did trigger their scientific and technological temper, while honing their innovative traits and skill sets. On the concluding day, the participants were appreciated for their involvement and certificates were distributed.
